Hospitals whose ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease) inpatient population exceeds a specified threshold are eligible to receive an add-on reimbursement through the Cost Report. This program is intended to recover otherwise uncompensated dialysis expense. The program requires identifying qualifying patients with specific DRGs only. ESRD enrollment and clinical data must be reconciled correctly to avoid missing out on this reimbursement opportunity.
